UNeedIT Converter 1.0

Convert between the most common units, including time, weight, temperature, etc.

If in need of a straightforward free utility to convert between the most common units, you may consider using UNeedIT Converter. This open-source tool converts automatically and in real time between the most popular computer, time, weight/mass, velocity, and temperature units.

It may not be the most comprehensive unit converter out there, but that does not detract from its efficiency and its extreme simplicity of use. The program is limited to five categories and five units per category, except for temperature, which is limited to Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin, and Rankine degrees. All the usual suspects are there – bytes, Kb, MB, GB, and TB for computer memory and storage capacity; microseconds, seconds, minutes, hours, and days for time; centimeters, inches, feet, kilometers, and meters for lengths; milligrams, grams, ounces, pounds, and kilograms for weight and mass, and kilometers per hour, feet per second, miles per hour, knots, and meters per second for velocity.

The great thing about this tiny and free utility is that as soon as you type a figure in one of the items of a certain category, the program shows you the results of the other three or four units in that category in real time. This will help you to see the differences and the relationship between different units at a glance.

As said, this is not the most exhaustive free unit converter out there, but if you happen to be interested in converting only or mainly between the 24 units it supports, this is your tool. It takes up no significant memory at all, it is open source, couldn’t be simpler, and it displays the results as you type your query. All in all, an excellent tool, despite its limited range.
